HULL RUFC vs KENDAL

HULL RUFC overcame a committed Kendal to secure their second win in a row

Kendal showed greater enterprise in the early stages with their pacey centre Barton making half-breaks and setting up opportunities for his colleagues.

After 12 minutes a Hull breakout saw Piercy come off his wing at a good angle to take a short pass, but he was held up a yard short of the line.

As the game moved into the second quarter, Kendal's off-half Ireland saw a penalty chance from 35 yards go wide.

Kendal tried to move the ball around and Hull were put under even more pressure when hooker, Scott Plevey, was yellow-carded.

His replacement, Stephenson, played out the half at hooker and a half-time score of 0-0, while a rarity, was a fair reflection.

The second half saw Hull increase their line-out dominance and achieve turnovers at vital moments.

Props Adi Longbone and Kris Fullman were prominent in all phases of play and they were rewarded when Hull's pack combined to drive over from ten yards out after 44 minutes, with Plevey credited with the try, which was converted by Steve Slingsby.

Hull were further handicapped when Chris Murphy was yellow-carded and Kendal's spirits were lifted as Ireland kicked a penalty to give them hope.

Hull's forwards continued to dominate and another opportunity for a catch and drive from a line-out 15 yards out was eagerly taken as Hull drove to the line for the hard-working Max Lewis to be credited with the 73rd minute try, which went unconverted.

Hull picked up their third yellow card, awarded to Phil Murphy, before Ireland kicked Kendal's second penalty to gain his side a losing bonus point.

Hull will welcome back some of their regular first team players next week, but those who were drafted in for this game did their Club great credit.
