We pride ourselves on delivering first class coaching via our experienced coaching team and would be able to assist you in learning the basics of the game right through to the completion of RFU coaching badges.

John Widdowson - Director of Coaching
John joined the club part way through 2010/11 season and was installed as the man responsible for heading up the coaching team. He has vast experience and is employed by Nottingham Rugby in partnership with the local Borough Council as the Community, Education and Development Academy Manager. He has previously coached at Leicester Tigers with the elite player Development squad, the Tongan U-21 team and the Warwickshire County team. He is a RFU level 3 coach and is a former Royal Navy Marine Engineering Mechanic.
Dan Cook - Head Coach
Dan Cook joined the club season 2007/2008, adding his vast experience to the playing squad as well as working as a Rugby Development Officer delivering the clubs community programme in local schools. Dan enjoyed a successful 12 year professional playing career with Rotherham and Doncaster was educated at Hymers College and was selected to tour with England Schools to New Zealand. He has a degree in Sports coaching and is employed by a Private School in Doncaster as a Sports Teacher. He works closely with John to deliver first class coaching being responsible for the forwards. Dan is also the Senior Yorkshire County forwards coach and past Captain of Yorkshire.
Maea David - Assistant Coach
Maea has been one of the longest and most valuable serving members of the club both as a player and as a coach. He is well respected having had a distinguished Professional Playing career in both codes. He is a junior All Black and Samoan International having first arrived in Hull when signing a professional contract with Hull RLFC. Maea is responsible for the backs but overseas some of the conditioning work at the club.
Simon Middleton - Defence Coach
The club were delighted when Simon agreed to join the coaching team in the summer of 2011 from Leeds Carnegie where he was employed as Assistant Coach more recently but had previously been employed in the position of Defence Coach. He is responsible for overseeing the defensive organization at the club as well as looking at some of the basic skills. He is also responsible for coaching the Junior Academy Scholars at the Clubs Educational Partner Bishop Burton College.
Guy Martinson - Skills/Assistant Backs Coach
Guy has joined the coaching team recently helping out with basic skills and assisting Maea with the backs whilst combining this with playing. He has and continues to represent the club with great distinction racking up more senior appearances than any other member and is a former Captain. He is employed as Head of Sport at South Hunsley School.
Mark Lockton - 2nd XV Manager and Coach
Mark is a real stalwart of the club having represented the First XV over a long period of time with great distinction in a number of different positions. He has a key role to play ensuring the clubs 2nd XV runs smoothly so that it provides a real platform for the First XV. He has a great knowledge and understanding of the game which he can pass on.
Eammon Whelan - 3rd XV (The Wonders) Captain
Hull RUFC is fortunate to have the long distance relations of the great Irish legend - Michael Collins in Eamonn. Eammon is taking on the responsibility of running the 3rd XV (known as 'The Wonders'). It is an ideal team to bridge youngsters from junior rugby into open age/men's rugby, as well as providing a social, yet competitive level of rugby for those coming to the end of their careers or not wishing train and compete for places in the 1st or 2nd teams.
Krysta Logan - Ladies Captain
Krysta Captains the hugely successful Ladies section of the club which is growing from strength to strength. She is an active member on the Club’s main Committee and is seen as the real driving force behind the Ladies Team.
